A Week of Stimulating Brain Cells, Then Killing Them

Ami and I met up today to take a look at the slides for Tuesday’s 7x20x21 panel at BEA. (They’re really, really cool. Hope to see you there.) We also talked about the week ahead – the panels, the galleys, and of course, the parties. I’m looking forward to a week of stimulating conversations with colleagues, and the subsequent alcohol consumption which will erase all memory of them. BEA!

To put myself in the proper frame of mind, I watched Piers Fawkes‘ speech at a recent advertising conference. It’s long, but worth it: he highlights a slew of renaissance creatives, then talks about how they’re engaging the community and where companies can benefit in the new ecosystem. Of the myriad challenges facing publishing, other industries – music, film, design – offer the solutions if we know how to look.
