Everyone’s Got a Poetry Month

Over at FSG we just re-launched our annual poetry blog for National Poetry Month: The Best Words in Their Best Order. If that sounds odd, well, it is. It’s not a blog we run all the time, just for the month of April each year. (There’s also a poem-a-day email. More on that later.)

We have a lot of cool stuff planned this year – more posts by publisher Jonathan Galassi, guest writing and poetry from Graywolf Press, lots of multimedia – but I wanted to create a kind of roundup of other poetry projects on the internets. Because you can never have too much poetry, right? I suppose you could suffer from Stendhal Syndrome, but let’s not focus on that.

  • Some great poem-a-day emails you should subscribe to: Academy of American Poets, FSG, Knopf
  • PoetrySpeaks, Dominique Raccah’s site with lots of great audio to discover
  • Poems Out Loud, run by the good folks at W.W Norton
  • My favorite poet, Frederick Seidel, has recorded a wealth of full-throated readings of his work, which can be found here.

I know I’m forgetting some others. Feel free to add your favorites in the comments.

Don’t screw this up, Chapman. The best words need to be placed in their best order on the blog.
