Thanks everyone for coming out last night! I had a great time, and I thought all the presenters were fantastic. Ward Sutton and I realized our lives moved on parallel tracks – we grew up 10 miles from each other in Minnesota and both decamped to Seattle before arriving in New York. Stephanie Anderson’s slides put to bed the myth that bibliophiles can’t play streetball. Josh Simpson’s photography pointed out the similarities between MFA students and NY Jedi adherents. And Debbie Stier’s tale of losing and regaining her optimism in publishing narrowly avoided cheesiness to become kind of inspiring. I’m also jealous she gets to publish Kevin Rose’s book.
Thanks Guy and Ami for putting it on! And thanks to the bartender for that free Dewar’s. George Plimpton would be proud. I’m sure there’s video and pictures floating around out there; I’ll post the less embarrassing ones later.
