The Most Thought-Provoking Book of 2009

Get thee to Tor.com to start reading the freshly serialized novel Makers by Cory Doctorow. You likely know Doctorow’s work from Boing Boing, Craphound, the excellent YA title Little Brother, or his numerous speaking engagements. All of that stuff is rolled into this book. It bears a strong resemblance to William Gibson’s Pattern Recognition for two reasons: a few of the opening chapters share similarities, and both are chockablock with fertile ideas for 2009, 2010, even 2020.

Just go read it already. I’m only on Chapter 2 and I’m freaking out.
