Naomi Klein & The Shock Doctrine

Probably the very definition of dumb luck that one of the first projects I helped out with at Macmillan was Naomi Klein and Alfonso Cuarón’s short film for her book The Shock Doctrine. The video premiered at the 2007 Venice Film Festival, and then went round the world. We coordinated the launch between the US, Canadaian, and UK publishers for an incredible amount of coverage. The original posting of the video topped out at around a million views; unfortunately the director recently lost licensing rights for some of the content, so we were forced to take it down. Since it’s the internet, the video lives on from fans uploading it themselves…
