If there are any Media Studies scholars out there, feel free to unpack this one:
A tweet by a fictional character about how real-life news editor (and author of the forthcoming book Plutocrats) Chrystia Freeland is “channeling” another fictional character. Bonus point: Freeland’s appearing on CNN, widely understood as the basis for the fictional character’s “ACN” news channel in “The Newsroom.”
So what started as creative inspiration for Aaron Sorkin, which we’ll call art imitating life, has transformed into art-using-life-for-social-media-marketing?
